Product description:
This medication is a synthetic male hormone used to treat a low red blood cell count called anemia. It works by increasing the amount of the hormone erythropoietin involved in the production of red blood cells. This medication may also be used to treat an allergic swelling condition like hereditary angioedema.

Drug class:
Anabolic/androgenic steroids

Characteristic:
Anabolic/androgenic steroids are synthetic derivates of testosterone. This class of drugs is often used to promote growth of muscle, bones and other tissues as well because of their ability to increase cell growth and division by improved nitrogen balance. This is happening due to increased protein synthesis.

Indication:
Primary clinical applications of Oxymetholone includes treatment of osteoporosis and anemia, as well as stimulating muscle growth in undernourished or underdeveloped patients and eventually found a new use in treating HIV wasting syndrome.

Contraindication:
This medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: breast cancer (males), breast cancer with high blood calcium levels (females), prostate cancer, severe kidney disease, severe liver disease.
Check your blood (or urine) glucose level frequently, as directed by your doctor and promptly report any abnormal results. Your diabetes medicines may need to be adjusted. Caution is advised when using this drug in children because they may be more sensitive to its effects. This medication may stunt growth in children under 18 years of age. Periodic bone x-rays may be used to monitor the drug's effects on bone growth. Oxymetholone may also affect sexual development in children. Consult your doctor for more details. This medication must not be used during pregnancy due to the risk of fetal harm.

Side effects:
Diarrhea, excitation, or sleeping disturbance may occur. Other reported side effects are: mood changes, swelling, rapid weight gain, acne, breathing problems, hair loss, impotence, breast swelling, changes in testicle size, painful, prolonged erection and headaches.
If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Discuss the risks and benefits of therapy with your doctor.

Dosage and administration:
Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor. It may be taken with food or milk if stomach upset occurs. Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Remember to use it at the same time(s) each day. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. Usual dosage is 50 - 100 mg of Oxymetholone daily.

Storage:
Store at room temperature between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets.
